How to Add TIEs
Search
Creating Ties between Writers and Publishers (or Publishers and higher level Publishers) are necessary to create the proper IP chain for registrations.
- Open the song search, search for and double click, the song you which you to create ties for, to open the song mask.
- Click Edit Song.

- Click the TIE’s Tab, and then click Edit Ties.

- Highlight the Two entities you would like to Tie (in this instance I’m tying Marc Smith to Music by Thirteen).

- Hit Enter and then click OK on the pop up window to confirm.

- You’ll see confirmation appear in the lower window, repeat for any other ties, then click OK.

- Click Apply Data, and then SAVE and Exit on the song mask.

On a Mass Update Level:
- From the Song Search screen, select all the songs you want to mass update (search by composer or publisher and select them). Right click to add to mass update.
- At the bottom of the screen, click MORE and Open Mass Update Module

- When Mass Update opens, double check the songs and Select Add Tie at the bottom

- Click Open Mass Update Tool.

- From this window, select, from composer OR from publisher, the composer or publisher(from the drop down menu), then enter their capacity (for composers: CA, C or A) (for publishers: E, AM or SE).

- Select the “To Publisher” and their capacity (E, AM or SE), then you can add update info that will show in the song mask (optional) and click Run Mass Update. The system will update and ask if you’d like to update the notes (optional).

- At this point, if you have more composers and publishers to tie, you can click Load Previous Used Song Selection and start the process again with the next set of ties.

- Please note that there are also options in Mass Update to Remove a Tie, Tie all Controlled Composers to the Controlled SE Publisher, and to Tie all Controlled Composers to Controlled E Publisher when there is only one controlled E publisher.

- Lastly, on the song search screen, clicking more at the bottom shows a “Undo Last mass Update” option should you have made an error. It will only undo the most recent update.
