Group Collaborations FAQs

What is Group Collaborations?

Group Collaborations lets you share playlists and folders with a User Group so everyone in that group can access the shared content. Folder Collaboration builds on this by letting you organise shared content into folders and subfolders instead of a flat list.

Do I need to be part of a User Group to use this feature?

Yes. You need to belong to a User Group to share or view content in Group Collaborations. If you're not part of any group, the Group Collaborations sidebar is still visible, but there won't be any groups to share with or content to see.

How do I share a playlist with a group?

  1. Click the Playlists button in the top-right of the header
  2. Find the playlist or folder you want to share
  3. Click the 3-dot menu and select Share to Group Collaboration
  4. Choose a Target group and a Destination folder
  5. Confirm

You can also drag and drop a playlist directly onto a group inside Group Collaborations — this opens the same modal with the destination pre-filled.

What happens to my original playlist when I share it to a group?

Your original stays in your personal Playlists sidebar. A copy is added to the group's space — but it's still linked to your original. If you delete the original from your personal sidebar, the copy in Group Collaborations is deleted too.

There is no independent copy living separately in the group. Deleting the original removes it everywhere, with no warning sent to the group.

How do I create folders inside Group Collaborations?

Open Group Collaborations, select the relevant User Group, click the 3-dot menu next to the group name, and select Create Folder. You can also create subfolders inside existing folders the same way.

Can I reorganize content inside Group Collaborations?

No — drag-and-drop reordering is not available once content is inside a group's shared space. Content stays where it was placed when shared.

How do I remove a playlist from a group?

Click the 3-dot menu on the playlist inside Group Collaborations and select Unshare. This removes it from the group only — the playlist remains in your personal sidebar. Note that you cannot delete a playlist from within Group Collaborations — deletion can only be done from your personal sidebar.

What happens to shared content if a user's account is deleted?

Playlists shared into Group Collaborations stay in place and remain accessible to all group members and admins. For regular (non-group) collaborations, ownership stays with the deleted account and does not transfer automatically.

Can group members see restricted tracks in a shared playlist?

It depends on their permissions:

  • Members without Restricted Repertoire access can see and open the playlist but won't see restricted tracks within it
  • Members with Restricted Repertoire access see the playlist in full, including restricted tracks

What are the known limitations?

  • Drag-and-drop reorganization is not available inside Group Collaborations
  • Playlists can't be created directly inside Group Collaborations — they must be shared in from the personal sidebar
  • Deleting a playlist from your personal sidebar also deletes any copy shared into a group, with no warning
