What is the Cue Sheets section?

Cue Sheets live under Productions in the Synchtank Admin. A Production is the umbrella record (e.g. a TV show or film) that contains all the Cue Sheets for that project. Each Cue Sheet documents the music used in a specific episode or version, including tracks, timings, writers, publishers, and scene details.

How do I create a Cue Sheet manually?

  1. Go to Catalog → Productions and open or create the relevant Production
  2. Navigate to the Cues tab
  3. Click Add Version
  4. Add a Scene — include a description (e.g. "Opening Titles"), scene number, and optional start/end timecodes
  5. Click Add Track and search for the track from your catalog
  6. Edit track details if needed — artist, writers, publishers, usage type, and timings
  7. Repeat for each scene
  8. Click Save

Can I create a Cue Sheet from a Playlist?

Yes. If you have a front-end playlist with the correct tracks in order, go to the Production → Cue Sheets area and select Create Cue Sheet → From Playlist. Select the playlist and the system will automatically create scenes and add tracks. Adjust timings and metadata as needed and save.

Can I create a Cue Sheet from an EDL file?

Yes. Go to the Production → Cue Sheets area and select Create Cue Sheet → From EDL. Upload the EDL file and the system will automatically create scenes, add tracks, and import durations and timecodes. Review any track name mismatches and save.

Can I edit track metadata inside a Cue Sheet?

Yes. You can edit artist, writers, publishers, usage type, and timing fields directly within the Cue Sheet. If you want the changes to apply globally across your catalog, also update the Master record.

How do I download a Cue Sheet?

Once you are happy with your Cue Sheet, click the Download button and select the format and template you need. Templates determine which columns appear in the export — for example, composer and publisher columns for publishers, or duration and usage columns for finance teams.

What are some best practices for Cue Sheets?

  • Fill in useful header information (production title, version, release year) as this appears on exports
  • If a track appears multiple times with different timings, create a separate scene for each timing
  • Use Playlists to create Cue Sheets quickly when tracks are already in the correct order
  • Use EDL imports for accurate timecodes in broadcast or film workflows
  • Always check composer, writer, and publisher fields before exporting to ensure accurate reporting
