It is where you create and manage all the people and companies you work with — such as artists, songwriters, bands, publishers, record labels, and more. You must have the proper permissions to access and manage Contacts. Contact your system administrator if you have questions about your permissions. #### **What is the difference between a Contact and an Organization?** - **Contact** — an individual person, such as a songwriter, artist, or contributor - **Organization** — a company or entity, such as a publisher, label, or production company Both can be created and managed from the Contacts section. #### **How do I create a new Contact?** Go to Admin → Contacts → Contacts tab and click the green **Add Contact** button. Fill in the required fields (First Name is required) and optionally link the contact to an existing Organization. Click **Save**. #### **How do I create a new Organization?** Go to Admin → Contacts → Organizations tab and click **Create**. Fill in the required fields (Name is required) and click **Save**. #### **How do I create a Writer?** Go to Admin → Contacts → Contacts tab and click **Create**. Fill in the First Name and Last Name (required), set the General Type to **Writer**, and optionally add the CAE/IPI number. Click **Save**. #### **How do I create a Publisher?** Go to Admin → Contacts → Organizations tab and click **Create**. Fill in the Name (required), set the General Type to **Publisher**, and optionally add the CAE/IPI number. Click **Save**. #### **How do I handle contacts with the same name?** When multiple contacts share the same name, Synchtank displays additional identifying information to help you select the correct person. You can enable additional identifying columns (Nationality, Date of Birth, Date of Death) from the Contacts list by clicking the table icon in the top right corner and selecting the columns you want to show. Column preferences are per user — each team member can set their own view without affecting others. #### **Can I bulk upload contacts?** Yes. Go to Admin → Contacts and click the **Import** button. Upload your spreadsheet (XLSX format), match the fields to the available Synchtank fields, and click **Save**. We recommend generating a Contacts report first to get a file in the correct format. Refer to the**[Reports guide](https://pages.synchtank.com/support-site/reports?hsLang=en-us)** for instructions. #### **What are Contact Groups?** Contact Groups allow you to group contacts together under a shared name — useful for organizing contacts by project, campaign, or any other grouping. Go to Admin → Contacts → Contact Groups, click **Create**, give the group a name, save, and then add contacts using **+ Add Contact**. #### **What are Contributor Roles?** Contributor Roles define how contributors (such as writers and artists) map to delivery formats like DDEX and Fuga.
