Artists FAQs
What is the Artists section?
The Artists section is found under Catalog in the Synchtank Admin. It contains all the artists in your system and allows you to create, manage, and publish artist profiles. Most of the information entered here will be reflected on your front-end platform.
What information can I add to an artist profile?
When creating or editing an artist you can add:
-
Name, image, and biography — including hometown, influences, and notable placements
-
Social media links — Instagram, Twitter, Spotify, Apple Music, Bandcamp, and external website
- Metadata — genres, moods, and other metadata fields that help categorise and describe the artist
-
Photos and videos — promotional shots, live performances, and music videos
-
Placements — where the artist's music has been used (e.g. adverts, trailers)
How do I create a new artist?
Click the green Create button in the top right corner of the Artists section. Fill in the relevant details and save.
How do I edit an existing artist?
Find the artist in the list, click into their page, then select the blue Edit icon in the top right corner. Make your changes and save.
How do I publish or feature an artist?
Within the artist's Settings section, toggle Publish to make the artist visible on the front-end. Toggle Feature to add them to your featured artists list.
How do I link an artist to their tracks?
Navigate to the Masters section, find the track, and select the Artists section within it. Click Edit, search for the artist by name, and assign their role — Main Artist, Featured Artist, or Artist.
Can I bulk upload or edit artists?
Yes. You can bulk import and edit artists via the Import Tools section. We recommend running an Artist report first to get the correct column headings for your spreadsheet.
How do I run a report on my artists?
Go to the Reports section in the Synchtank Admin, click Create New, select Artist as the report type, set your date range, and save. The report can be downloaded as a CSV file.
Can I customise the columns shown in the Artists list?
Yes. Use the table edit button to show or hide the columns most relevant to you.
