Albums FAQs
What is the Albums section?
The Albums section is found under Catalog in the Synchtank Admin. It allows you to create and manage your releases, linking tracks, artists, and release deals in one place.
What information can I add to an Album?
Each Album record includes:
- Album Information — release title, alternative titles, versions, and release dates
- Production Information — linked productions, MPM, and album WBS element
- Metadata — categories, genres, keywords, and other descriptive fields
- Digital Album Information — details for digital releases
- Physical Album Information — details for physical releases
- Links — associated streaming links such as Apple Music and Spotify
- Web Site Visibility & Restrictions — controls whether the album is published on your front-end
- Related Files & Media — album artwork and other media files
What tabs are available on an Album page?
Once an Album is saved, three tabs appear at the top:
- Track Lists — shows all tracks on the release, including any preview date or release deal overrides at a glance
- Artists — lists all artists on the album and their roles (main, featured, or artist)
- Release Deals — manage release deal terms including territories, validity dates, pricing, and pre-order settings
How do I create a new Album?
Go to Catalog → Albums and click the green Create button. Enter the album title and relevant details, then save.
How do I edit an existing Album?
Find the album in the list, open it, then select the blue Edit icon in the top-right corner. Make your changes and save.
How do I add tracks to an Album?
Tracks are linked to albums during the audio upload process via Import Tools → Audio Upload. When uploading, assign the album in the Global Sound Recording Information section. You can also link tracks to an album individually by editing each Master and assigning the album there.
What is a Release Deal?
A Release Deal defines the commercial terms for an album — including territories, validity dates, pricing, and pre-order details. You can create multiple Release Deals per album depending on your release plan. The system also supports time zone settings, so you can release your album worldwide at the same time.
How do I upload an Album?
Follow these steps for a complete album upload:
- Create Compositions for each track (Catalog → Compositions → Create)
- Create the Album (Catalog → Albums → Create)
- Upload the main mixes via Import Tools → Audio Upload — drag and drop tracks in the correct order, as this sets the album sequence
- During upload, assign the correct Composition, Artist, and Album to each track
- Confirm and complete the upload
- Run a Masters report, update any additional metadata in Excel, and re-upload via Import Tools → Import Spreadsheet if needed
What is the difference between uploading an Album and Singles?
When uploading an album, use the Global (right column) to apply metadata to all tracks at once. When uploading singles, edit each track individually — do not use global metadata.
Can I customise the columns shown in the Albums list?
Yes. Use the table edit button to show or hide the columns most relevant to you.
